Is staying in Villeneuve Les Avignon convenient ?
I am planning my first trip to Provence for five days in March before heading north to Paris.
I am going to stay in Avignon since I won't have a car and need easy rail connections - and getting there from CDG airport after an overnight flight looks easy.
After reading various views on Avignon on this forum, I am thinking of staying in Villeneuve-les-Avignon for the slower pace and quieter nights.
How convenient is it to get from Villeneuve to the central train station, and into Avignon for shopping and meals? Walkable, taxi or boat...?
Thanks for all replies

Yes, I stayed thre for two weeks and loved it. You can walk across to bridge, take a boat at the top of the village where the tower is, or a bus by the fountain (52?) to go into Avignon. But the boat stopped at 7 as did the bus, all this could be changed, but I loved walking across into Avignon, watching the men play boules. Easy to walk anywhere. I was not there wjhen the new TGV opened but the regular train station near the Hotel Europe and Leutard cruise autobus will take you to alot of places.

We stayed at the Best Western in Villeneuve Les Avignon last June based on recommendations from this site. The hotel was a little bit of hike to the town and the town is quite a distance to Avignon. Overall, we found it inconvenient and a little to quiet. If we had it to do over, we would stay in Avignon. Plus, we were disappointed in the hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel de l'Atelier on rue de Foire in VLA and loved it and the village itself, which has cute little shops and a couple of good restaurants, plus a very well-known and upscale hotel (forget name of it, but think it's where Cigale stayed?) We either drove car or took taxi to Avignon, however.
