Is our budget of $150.00 a day ok for 2 in paris & italy?

Hello psy_dr, you have received some excellent ideas here. Sounds like you will have a wonderful honeymoon.
Suze's idea to pack a wine opener is a very good one. Just be sure to put it in your checked in luggage, not your carryon bag.
Buying a bottle of wine for your hotel room is very nice to do, even in one is not on a budget. It is wonderful after sightseeing all day to retreat to your room a bit, to unwind and relax and enjoy a glass of wine. Not sure about France as I have never been there but the wine in Italy is not expensive.

We found excellent prix fixe dinners for 15-20e two years ago in Paris. Nearly every cafe has them on menus posted outside. We found wonderful little cafes in the latin quarter - near the Sorbonne, just down from the Pantheon and about a block off the Seine. Avoid 'fizzy' water and/or soda pop - very expensive. Still water, tap water (even better) or a glass/carafe of wine will be much cheaper. We were there during a terrible heat wave and found a little market that sold frozen bottled water (like evian). We bought those in the morning and had something to drink all day long (refill at drinking fountains if necessary!) - kept a plastic liner in my bag to keep the bottles from soaking the bag.

We went to Paris last May and were amazed at how much we walked and how little we ate! We had breakfast at the hotel or a nutella crepe from a sidewalk stand, started sightseeing and grabbed something to eat or drink in early afternoon and then would look up again and it was 8 pm (and full daylight) and were wondered where the day went.
One day we barely had time to cab it "home" and change for a show at the Lido. One of us grabbed a Quick burger while the other waited in line and ate small burgers in the Lido line.
We ate sidewalk cafes and bistros we came upon when we realized we were hungry. Beer and wine are cheaper options that soda. Tap water is fine.
Most days I think we probably spent $60-$70 euro (together) on food. The big splurge was lunch at Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower.
Read Natalie's post about her trip to Italy. Wonderful pasta for 4 euros each.
There are "foodies" on this board - and then some of us other folks that truly have enjoyed virtually every meal we've eaten in France and Italy without seeking a particular restaurant. We did eat dinner at one other "guidebook" restaurant, and while the meal was good, we did not enjoy it more than our other meals.
