Is left luggage in Pompei Safe?

My sister and I want to go from Florence to Sorrento next Tuesday. We're planning on taking the train from Florence to Naples. Once we get to Naples we will either take a car to Sorrento with a stop for 2 hours in Pompei (quote for 130 euro) or take the CV train.

I've read the posts about the CV train but we feel like we know what we're in for - we have both lived in NYC and DC and have traveled a lot. Taking the train would certainly save some fun money for the rest of our travels but can afford to take the car if its the best option.

I haven't been able to get much information on how safe the left luggage is at the ruins in Pompei. Does anyone have any insight on whether its safe to leave our bags there? Is there a better option?

I would like to stop in Pompei while traveling to Sorrento because its on the way. That way we'll have more time to enjoy our three days in Sorrento and Positano before heading back up to Rome.

Thanks

You can leave your luggage at the Naples train station. This is what we did in June. They have a luggage check room. Its easy!

Maybe I didn't explain that clearly. We are staying in Sorrento and Positano for 3 nights after we take the train from Florence. I don't want to leave our bags in Naples and go to Pompei then back to Naples and then on to Sorrento. Thanks for your help though

The left-luggage facility at Pompeii has been recommended here for years and years. I have never yet seen a post indicating that it was not safe or that anyone experienced any difficulty with it.

We left ours, with no problems. We took the Circumvesuviana from Naples to Pompeii Scavi, and then Pompeii Scavi to Sorrento.

It's easy and cheap, tho the train is a little gritty, as others have described.

We left our luggage at Pompei on the way to Sorrento. No problems. I also used the one at the dock in Capri with no problem. There is a short walk from the train to the luggage check in Pompei.I used several good luggage tsa
approved luggage locks to discourage theifs. Have fun.

Don't leave anything in the luggage that you can't afford to lose!
