We are getting married in Positano and are spending 5 days there. My future husband wants a relaxing honeymoon as well, and he loves the water so I thought SML may be nice to see something new and different, but it seems as though both areas may be very similar, and we want to make the best of our time there. We've already been to all the big tourist cities in Italy. SML looks beautiful, I just don't know where the best honeymoon spot would be. We can't stay any longer in Amalfi coast bc our family wil still be there from the wedding and we'd like to spend our honeymoon alone. We'll be going late september.

SML is lovely but it sure is a long way to travel. If you want water and scenery I would consider Taormina in Sicily. You could train from Salerno in less time than to SML, and Taormina is spectacular.

Look at Villa Schuler or Hotel Belvedere. The locale is as spectacular as the Amalfi coast, with Mt. Etna towering over it all.

We were in SML in 2001 and just loved it. 3 nights is just right.

The Santa Margherita Ligure area is much different from the Amalfi Coast area. It is a very flat terrain instead of the hillside terrain of the Amalfi and just has a very different spread out and open feel to it. There are more seaside towns to visit around SML and more to do. Also around SML you can travel by train to many towns very easily. I like both areas very much but they are very different.
