Is Anyone Else Planning a Trip to Ireland This May?
Dreaming about our first time trip to Ireland this Spring is helping me to get through this long Wisconsin winter. (Twelve more inches of snow is predicted for this weekend, bad news as we were planning to fly down to Nashville to see our 2 month old grandson. I’m keeping my fingers crossed we will still be able to go.) Anyway, we are excited about our trip to Ireland and have gotten so much helpful information from everyone here. I love reading all the trip reports.
We are flying into Shannon on May 13th (we didn’t put Friday and the 13th together until after we made our flight arrangements) for 8 days along the SW coast of Ireland.
The first night we are staying in Doolin at Cullinan’s. We will see the Cliff of Moher and the Burren. The next day we are staying over night in Inishmore at the Man of Aran Cottage. Looks like a wonderful place! After that we will just stop when we feel like it, spending one or two days in Connemora and then we’ll explore the Dingle Peninsula. We can’t wait! I think half the fun of going on vacation is planning for it.
Is anyone else going to Ireland in May?

Marlie-my husband and I are going (8th trip for me, 5th for him) on April 27 coming back May 8th. Does that qualify?
ha ha...
We are mainly going to see my mom who lives in Co. Roscommon but we'll spend the first 2 days on our own (Doolin-Sea View House) and then Westport (Carrabaun House). Then, on to Roscommon for 7 days and back to Shannon.
We're flying AerLingus LAX-DUB then DUB-SNN and vise versa back.
I LOVE going to Ireland...just HATE the long flights....I'll be going back again in Sept. probably...my mom is 81 now and her health is not the best.
You will LOVE Ireland too I'm sure.
Let's all post trip reports so we can share the fun!

Hi: We are going the last week of April for 10 days and doing the same area you are. We are renting a car at Shannon and just going where ever we want but starting the the Dingle Peninsula and then going north. We are very excited as this is our first trip and we have Irish blood. I will try to post after we return. Have a great trip. Pam

We went in May 1990 and they were in the midst of a "heat wave". The banner headline of the newspaper was "Sizzling Seventies" with a picture of a little girl sticking her toe in the ocean water!
It was a magical trip. Marlie, you will love the Aran Islands. Gerald O'Connor was the driver of the carriage for our tour. Just a note - I RARELY get motion sickness but it was a rough day and I did get quite quesy on the ferry over. Be sure to have something with you. I've found ginger snaps work really well (in travels with a friend that easily gets motion sickness).
We picked up the B&B and Farm and Breakfast guidebooks at the tourist bureau and used it (and their guaranteed rates) to choose the next night's stay as we followed our noses. We learned to ask the innkeeper's advice - she knew where the good ones where in the direction we were going.
I swear we were hosted by Ann Margaret our last night in Ireland outside Dublin. The woman was her twin!
Hava a wonderful time all. Ireland is just magical!

Shadow, have a great visit with your mom. Praynor, are you going to try to look up any Irish roots? Starrsville, your about the 3rd person that commented on the rough ferry ride. I will just pray for calm waters.
I hope you all will have a safe flight, wonderful weather and a great time. We should all write trip reports, I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
