Gemutlichkeit Newsletter

Wondering if any fodorites subscribe to Gemutlihkeit's Newsletter at $59/yr (www.gemut.com). If so would you please offer an unbiased review.

I also subscribed several years ago. I didn't think it was that good. When I didn't renew they sent me a rude letter which wound up in the shredder.

I enjoy the newsletter...it is rather plain (no photos) but provides nice overviews of sights in a particular area, with suggested hotels and restaurants. These fall into the 'moderate' price range, imo (100-200€/dbls). I will renew when the time comes.

Did you read the sample newsletter offered on the website? It is pretty much representative of typical issues.

The actual newsletter is on beige paper, and runs about 8 pages + an insert with some 'advertising', ie railpasses, travel gear, etc.

When you subscribe, you can get a year's worth of back issues included.

Free Access for Limited Time to Gemütlichkeit Archives
Remember, cable TV watchers, when HBO used to make its movies and specials available free to anyone for a weekend? In a way, that's what Gemütlickheit, The Travel Letter for Germany, Austria & Switzerland is doing. For the next 7 days you can access the newsletter's online archive of hundreds of stories on destinations, backroads drives, travel commentary, hotel and restaurant reviews, and a database of some 900 hotels, complete with contact info, ratings, and email and web links. For a week, you can browse and download, cut and paste, to your heart's content. The archive is constantly being added to and is an important perk for the newsletter's paid subscribers - and for 51 weeks a year, open only to them. A one-year subscription is $59. Find out more here. To get into the Members' area you'll need the login ID etaspecial and the password 41305.
