Ireland - where to stay around Newgrange

At the end of our 3 week trip we are looking for somewhere to stay near Newgrange. After 3 nights in Belfast we will have 2 days prior to flying home out of Dublin. Can anyone suggest somewhere to stay close to Newgrange and in proximity to the Dublin airport? We have read reviews of The Millhouse in Slane and The D Hotel in Drogida.

comments?

I stayed at the Boyne View B&B in Slane in 2000. Good location, not too far away from Newgrange and reasonable price.

Smarmore Castle Hotel between Ardee and Collon is worth a look. We stayed there our first night in country and were very pleased.

Thank you both for your replies. The Smarmore Castle looks interesting. jaja, may I ask if you were there recently?

I can't seem to locate any information on line re the Boyne View B&B. Maybe I'm just too tired (midnight here).

Any other suggestions?

We stayed at the White Lodge B&B Trim tele 046 36549. Visited the Trim Castle about 9 AM the next morning, then made it to Newgrange for the late morning tour. That night we stayed in Swords, a couple miles north of the airport at Rathview House B&B ([email protected]) an easy 10 minute drive to the airport. Hope this helps...cheers Dan

We spent our last night in Rush ( a bit further away than Swords but not as far as Newgrange), but then it was in a Motorhome in a Campsite. It was super easy to Dublin Airport within 1 hour. I would definitely go with rvflyer's suggestion.

We were in that area last month for our daughter's wedding. We stayed with her in-laws. But my brothers stayed here:

They liked it very much for a variety of reasons. Not the least of which was that it was about an 8 minute walk to Navan's city centre.

It's a good central location for visiting Newgrange, Tara, Trim and Slane. And Navan's a nice little city offering restaurants, pubs, a mall, etc.

Oops, should have added that it's about half an hour, 45 minutes from Dublin airport.

We were at Smarmore Castle Hotel on June 21 of this year. And the price had gone down since we had booked! We had a family room (3 single beds). I can't put my hand on the amount right now, paid cash, but the initial quote was €120, with the discount from IrelandYes it was to have been €108 but it was even less than that. Breakfast included.
