Ireland Heritage card

Two bits of info I have picked up at forum suggested websites: The first is the Ireland Heritage card which is about $20 and includes entrance to over 70 places. Have many of you purchased one?

Also, I am considering purchasing Pat Preston's DAYTRIPS IRELAND book as we are doing a self drive vacation. Has anyone used this book?

Hi,
I have a heritage card and I find it good value- but I live here so maybe I have more of a chance to see all the places!
You should check out their website and then, once you've decided where you're going, you could isolate how many sites of interest are in that region (and how much their individual entrance fees are)
Have a nice trip

Thanks, Jo. I will visit that website. Our itinerary will take us to Doolin, then the Dingle Penninsula and probably on to Kerry. Any special places relating to the Heritage card in those particular areas that you would recommend?

I have used Pat Preston's book & highly recommend it. Some of her information on Dublin is out of date. For example a pen store she recommended is recently out of business, but all other information is well researched & thought out. We used her day trip for The Burren & the Cliffs of Mohr - very handy!

She has a website,www.irelandexpert.com
I think, that is very helpfull

Greg: Does Pat Preston's DAYTRIPS IRELAND book have B&Bs in it?

No, but you can visit he site and get lodging & shopping recommendations along with travel advice forum all for free. She has recommendations for food & drink in both the book & website.

The book is arranged in geographic regions so you can base yourself in a city and take day trips at your liesure(no packing or checking out of a motel daily).

You can order her book from the website, but Amazon is a bit cheaper
her website is;
http://www.ireland-withpatpreston.com/

If you visit Pat Preston's site (http;//www.irelandexpert.com)you will see that she is running a special on her books. If you order DAYTRIPS ($19) she will include at no additional charge IRELAND AT A GLIMPSE '02 (valued at $11.95) and her GUIDE TO THE ABC'S OF VAT. She will autograph DAYTRIPS and ship all three by priority mail for just $19. I ordered mine today.
