Ira -- Help!! Trenitalia --Error message?? what do I do?

I was on the trenitalia website and needed to make 3 reservations.

I made the first 2 succesfully and got confirmation emails.

When I went to make the 3rd one and put in my credit card details, I got a message saying it was invalid (even though I had just used it for the previous 2 reservations). I tried again and this time it gave me a big error message and sent me an email that my userid/password has been disabled and I need to contact the trenitalia help desk.

So, here are my questions:

1. If the trenitalia help desk phone number is 06.43243100 how do I dial that from the U.S.?

2. Are my first 2 reservations still okay or are they now null and void?

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Okay -- seems as though with enough persistance I've solved this one myself...

for those interested -- to dial I needed to dial 011-39 and then the number...

spoke to trenitalia's help desk and they reinstituted my userid, etc. and i was able to make the additional reservation I needed...

thanks!

You would dial from the U.S. internationally - the phone number is a Rome number as the code there is 6. Dial 011-39-6-432-43100.

It sounds like your 2 previous transactions went through fine. Perhaps after you've asked for an English clerk, you can then give him/her your card number and order your 3rd ticket. IMO, you should just wait and get your train tickets while in Italy. It is much easier that way! Just print out the city pairs you want and the day/time you want to go and show it to them at the ticket counter.

I had the same problem. I'm not quite sure why my account got suspended. For the 3rd ticket, I just created a new account using a different email address and paid with a different credit card. The two previous train tickets that I purchased were still valid.

Hi:
Does anyone have a more recent number? 011-39-6-43243100 doesn't appear to work.
Thx for your help.

Hi shawn,
They have a new call center that seems to be like a 900 number in the US.

I don't think you can get it outside Italy.

Do you have a specific question that we might be able to help you with?

The Trenitalia website lists its call centre number as 89 20 21

http://www.trenitalia.it/en/area_cli...ter/index.html

Hope this helps ...

Hi steve,

I don't think that one can get there from here.

Italian phone numbers are of the form
011 39 (0)y xx xx xx xx

This one has only 6 digits and no city number.

They also charge 54 Ecents per min.

I've tried calling, but the call never goes through.

This may be a result of your credit card company putting a security block on the card after some activity in a foreign country. That's what happened to us.

A call to the credit card company unblocked the card and I was able to purchase the additional ticket.

This was before trenitalia put a block on my account, which apparently they do after repeated attempts that are denied.
