Please give my regards to ira if you communicate with him and tell him we think this must all be a terrible mistake.

Ira certainly can't be banished. We love Ira and his book full of knowledge. He is a Fodor institution.

Let's all start banging on a pan with a wooden spoon and chanting, "We want Ira!!!!" at 9 a.m. EST tomorrow morning.

Maybe the powers that be will hear us and look into this! If Ira is banned what hope is there for most of us?!

I don't get what is going on.

And I am sober.

Why would ira be banned?

That is just something out of Macbeth.

This is so nuts. I depend on advice from Ira in many areas of Europe and he always seems helpful and generous. What is going on?

This is obviously doolally. Though, in fairness to the mods, ira's prose can be - well, let's say quirky - from time to time. It wouldn't be at all surprising if some phrase (or accidental mis-type) ticked an "nuke immediately" box on some automatic monitoring system.

What would be surprising, though, would be if anyone in Modland was awake, functioning and able to take a decision over a weekend .

Let's ALL tick the yellow triangle on this post, complain to the mods that a rogue mod is trying to destroy the forum and suggest they de-kidnap ira (and restore his earlier posts) as soon as they get back from their weekend

Ira's been on here almost as long as I have. He should not be banned and I'm sure he will be back shortly.

How did I miss his Sicily pictures? Where are they????

Quite a few people have been caught in the Fodor's software when they can't get something to post. If you click submit several times in a row thinking it's not working or start multiple threads within a few minutes. Cigalechanta's had this happen several times. Of course, it doesn't seem to ever catch the real spammers that are advertising.

Not sure you will get a response on the weekend to this problem. Perhaps Monday morning will work better.

The same happened to me several weeks ago as kyb described. I simply contacted the fodor's gods and was reinstated immediately with an explanation that my post hit the spam filter so I was was automatically banished.

Sometime a few days ago, Ira started a thread and it disappeared pretty quickly. No question it was going to cause a riotous thread among participants who would react. I assumed that he had second thoughts about it and had asked to have it deleted. Wonder if that played into it?
