Travelling to Dusseldorf. Wanted to know where I could purchase telephone cards from Germany to U.S. ?

In Germany, everywhere, if you mean the kinds intended for use in public telephones. They're sold ubiquitously, just like they are in the U.S. at gas stations (at least on the autobahn), newsstands, grocery stores, discount big box stores, you name it.<BR><BR>Two separate questions might be <BR><BR>1) "what about phone cards you can use from a home or from a hotel room?" - - and I think that they must exist. I just don't know for sure.<BR><BR>and (perhaps this is what you meant)<BR><BR>2) "What about cards that can be purchased in the US before getting to Germany. I purchased a phone card before going to Europe and had mixed success. It was not a card per say, but a toll-free phone number and a private access code. It worked at the residential rate in some hotels, did not work in others. I was forewarned that public phones in Spain would not process the toll-free number and on my last night in Spain, I discovered that if I inserted 1euro20 in the coin box, I could connect and get my money back at the end of the call. Public telephones tend to add a by-the-minute charge that is taken off your account.

I purchased a phone card at Sam's Club and used it to call back to the States while in Australia and New Zealand. It worked fine most of the time. And it was probably comparable to trying to get a call through most of the time. <BR><BR>I would always take one with me now.

Just got back from Germany. Bought a phone card from Target before I left, and it worked fine. Be sure to call their information number here before you leave, however, to get the access number you will need when you are there.
