International calling card from Europe to Canada

Does anyone have any experience with a calling card that can be used in many different countries in Europe to make calls to Canada? We have a Bell Canada calling card but their rates range from .89/minute from France to $2.24/minute from Croatia going through Canada Direct. Other than buying individual cards from each country, we're wondering if there is one card that folks have used with decent rates that can be used from many countries. Thanks for any advice.

I have a Worldlink card and it works fine from countries in Europe - you just need to call their 800 # Customer Service to get the right number to dial OUT of the country you will be in before you go. I've used mine for many trips and in fact just called them yesterday to verify the correct number to use to call out of the UK and France. Calls are billed to our Visa card as it is tied into that. I forget exactly what calls cost but it has never been expensive enough for me not to use it

Michel, I think the card you clipped out of the AC enRoute magazine was for Canada Direct. They've advertised there for years.

I used Canada Direct from France, Hong Kong, and China. It isn't cheap, but it is extremely convenient for short calls.

Sorry, starfish, I can't suggest anything else.

I used to use Bell's calling card, but it was way too expensive; nowadays I just buy international phonecard (5 euro or 5 pounds) from local tabachi (sp?) or newspaper stand whereever I go, usually worth about 100 minutes phone time to North America or Asia..

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Looks like Canada Direct is the easiest "all in one" card. We'll have to decide to either keep the minutes to a minimum or buy individual country calling cards. Appreciate your responses!

Hello,

I am looking for a low rates calling card from Canada to India. I searched on the net and found one company with good rates, Telehop. At the same time i found lots of user complaint related to wrong/false/fraud charges by the company and they are not replying to customer complaints. Can someone guide me about this company? I will be thankful to you guys.

Thanks,

Have you not answered your own question? No company can please every customer all of the time but when you see multiple complaints it would be best to steer clear...

Go to a convenience store in a part of your town with many Indian businesses. A clerk will soon tell you the card most people buy to call India.
If people are getting defrauded they would soon be complaining to the store where they'd bought the card...

What countries are you going to? There are many international "call and computer" centers that are great.

They also sell calling cards.. about 5E for 3,000 minutes. ( But many minutes are taken when you make the connection).

These cards cost more to use from public phones but are great from private landlines.

I use them all the time. Just tell the store owner what country you want to call and he will sell you the appropriate card.

From Spain I use World Call.. lasts me for 3 months talking to my mom in USA four-five times a week.
