Interlaken Canyoning

I am looking for recommendations for a good/experienced canyoning company who runs tours from Interlaken. We plan to be in Interlaken in early July. Please give advice and share pictures if possible.

Just a word to the wise--5 or 6 years ago, several young people lost their lives in a canyoning tragedy outside of Interlaken. Got caught in a flash flood situation with experienced guides.

I've heard that rules are being much more enforced since then. But an adventure sport is still risky, no matter where you are.

Haven't been to Interlaken since 1998 but when we were there we did the canyoning and white water rafting tour. Can't remember the name of the company but we were backpacking and stayed at Balmer's Herberge Hostel and you can get information there. Note I have not been there in a long time so this may not still be the case. If I had the opportunity to do it again the white water rafting was the best but I would skip the canyoning. Hope this helps.

The accident to which I think you refer happened near Meiringen on the headwaters of the Aar River.

It was a freak accident in a way because people do the trip virtually every day in the summer.

People fall off the Matterhorn, too, but that does not stop dozens of people from ascending it.

Yes that kind of activity carries a risk. So does sky diving. So does driving on I 85 going into or out of Atlanta or on I 285 going around it!!
Yet tens of thousands of people do it twice a day, 5 days a week.

Driving to the airport to catch your flight to Switzerland is statiscally more risky.
