I think Conde-Nast Magazine travel perspective is a bit of an oxymoron--- how to get the most for your travel dollar in First Class (?). Oh, well. The last issue I cared to browsed had a female model wearing a very sophisticated designer number surrounded by locals on a small Peruvian village. even magazines that show items out of my budgetary league (Architectural Digest, for another example) can have useful information, or point me in a direction which I can adapt for my own lifestyle and needs. I'll take information anywhere I can get it.
In contrast, though for me some of the rest of it is a lower budget level than I usually want, the Frommers Magazine Budget Travel also often has good tips.
Tomorrow's New York Times travel section has a comparison of some of the
fare search engines such as Sidestep and
Kayak.

The London daily paper, the Independent, keeps at
http://travel.independent.co.uk/europe/eastern/ and …/western an archive of their travel reports since 2001. For Eastern Europe these introduce places that cost half the prices in western Europe, an advantage to north Americans these days.
