Interesting accomodations on/ near the Mosel River
Thanks to all of the info on this forum- my trip is almost planned. We have 4 nights in the Rhine/ Mosel region. We are staying 2 nights (that is all that is available) at the Castle Hotel Auf Schoenburg in Oberwesal on the Rhine. I am looking for some interesting options on or near the Mosel. Maybe in treir....

As was recommended in your previous post have a look at Haus Lipmann in Beilstein. It is a lovely family run hotel, they speak good English and the food is good. Beilstein is tiny but if you have a car it makes a good place to tour from. It has a castles for your children to explore, and great wines
.I was there last weekend and had a wonderful time.

dcmom8, we just returned from the Mosel River town of Bernkastel-Kues. It is truly a lovely town with the ruins of Burg Landshut towering above. We stayed at the Hotel Binz at the beginning of the pedestrian area. Nice hotel, good breakfast and friendly owners. We paid 85E for a small suite. There are other suitable accommodations in town also.

The Drei Koenige Hotel just over the bridge in Kues also looked nice:

From Bernkastel, it was only a short drive to Trier, so it would make an easy day trip.
As heitsmij also stated, the Haus Lipmann in Beilstein is a great hotel and would make a great choice.

Another vote for the Hotel Haus Lippman. In addition to lovely rooms and excellent food, the staff is very nice.
We had been assigned a third floor room, but when the proprietor saw that I was using a cane (temporarily), they offered a nice second floor room.
The hotel is not far from my favorite castle in the world, Burg Eltz. It really is a fairy tale castle.

We've stayed twice at the guesthouse at the S.A. Pruem vineyard in Wehlen (Bernkastel-Kues) - http://www.sapruem.com/guesthouse.0.html .
They are wonderful hosts, the setting is beautiful right up on the Mosel River with a view of the vineyards, the rooms are spacious and a terrific price, plus if you like the wines of the region you can take a tour and tasting too.
