Innsbruck Daytrips

My wife and I will be in Innsbruck for 2 or 3 days in June. I suspect that is more time than is warranted for the city itself, so I am interested in finding a daytrip or two. Do any of you have any thoughts on iteresting trips from there - historic, scenic or just good for wandering around?
Any of your ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks, Jim

Innsbruck could easily take 2-3 days to explore, but for a change of pace I would highly recommend a trip to the small village of Igls. It is high in the mountains above Innsbruck and great for hiking.

We just got back from Innsbruck 1/28/02. We loved the village of Seefeld, beautiful pedestrian friendly square. Tyrolian facades on the picturesqe buildings. We also loved Fulpmes we took a tram through the mountains to get there that was worth taking in itself!!

Been there and done both. I vote for Igls. There is a streetcar/Tram from Innsbruck to Igls, takes about 35 minutes or so. We stayed in Igls for a week several years ago and loved the hiking. In my opinion, Bolzano is too far from Innsbruck for a day trip and other than the Iceman, I didn't think it offered much. Innsbruck is much more picturesque. However, neither my wife or I are big on cities. We prefer that great outdoors. We really loved the Italian Dolimites not far from Bolzano. Good Luck
