Inn at the Spanish Steps - help!

Has anyone stayed here? I'm booked for 4 nights but I just found two negative reviews on Tripadvisor. I have to cancel by this weekend if I decide to...Any advice?

I haven't a clue about this hotel, but I have stayed at two hotels (or maybe more) that had quite negative reviews on Tripadvisor, and I loved them. But it's possible my standards are low.

Then again, I just looked at the prices listed at the TripAdvisor site. If you are paying that much, your expectations would rightfully be very high.

I got a promotional rate of $300 a night (still expensive but I thought I'd splurge for Rome). For that price (or less), is there another place I should be looking at that is as centrally located?

Chrissy, I have booked the Inn for late October, but haven't stayed there yet; if you do go, let me know how it is. I have stayed at the Inghilterra which is nearby, and liked that, but the furnishings, carpets are quite old, and I'm traveling with mother who has asthma, allergies, and I thought it would be too dusty for her. Also looked at the Russie, but could get a suite at the Inn for less than a regular room at the Russie.

Hi Tulips, I also looked at the Russie but they wanted over $700 a night. If I do stay at the Inn, I'll be sure to post my views.

We stayed at the Inn at The Spanish Steps on Via Conditti last October. There is another hotel with almost the same name maybe Inn on The Spanish Step, which is very different maybe a 2 star inn. The Inn at the Spanish Steps is a 4 star very lovely hotel. The location is a shoppers dream with all the best shops outside the front door. We stayed in a larger room and it was small but very pretty. The roof top restaurant/bar was delightful. A great way to start and end the day. We found the staff to be very helpful in making all the arrangements we needed. I found the level of service to be as good as you will find at any 5 star hotel. It sounds like you have a great rate. I think our was about $450 per day. Be sure to get a larger room as we could not have been in the standard size. Have fun!

Thanks, Letah. I feel better knowing someone had a good experience there. I have decided to keep the reservation and will report back when I return.

In the same neighborhood, I stayed at the Hotel Condotti on the Via Mario dei Fiori (sp?) and it was rather nice. Not luxurious, but somehow elegant. And MUCH cheaper.

tulips, if you're still checking this string: The Inn at the Spanish Steps is a great hotel, we absolutely loved it. We were upgraded from a superior to a deluxe and the room was spacious and beautiful. The bed was enormous. The hotel is very clean and they are hospitable. When we checked in, the room was not ready... instead of taking our bags and turning us away, they invited us up to their gorgeous rooftop terrace for coffee while we waited. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. And it is ideally located... stop in Cafe Greco nest door for a cafe granita con panne, it's to die for!

Thank you Chrissy; we are going later this month with two children. Glad to hear you liked it. Any good restaurants walking distance?

Hi Chrissy,

I have stayed at both the Inn at the Spanish Steps. My partner and I spent our 50th birthday in Rome and Capri. Three nights at the Inn. Very nice small hotel, great location, up graded to larger room (though not large) and great bath. The roof top was great as was the staff.

The Russie is one of the best hotels I have stayed. Incredible Room, lobby, garden, staff. Elegant, but not stuffy. We stayed only one night, (yes it is expensive...but for a special time it is a great place.) Even if you do not stay there be sure to go to gardens for a drink. Breathtaking.
