Inexpensive athens room w/ a view

Hello, can anyone recommend an athens hotel: economical, clean, good location hotel w/ a view of the Acropolis? Please advise. Thanks.

We are looking into staying at Adrian Hotel in the Plaka for our spring 2006 trip. They have a double room with a view of the Acropolis for 145€ per night.

I know that Hotel Tempi is in the Plaka region and pretty close to the Acropolis... they are well under 100€. Mixed reviews about the place on www.tripadvisor.com

The Acropolis View Hotel is clean, well run, etc., and of course, with view of Acropolis. It's about a 10 min. walk from Plaka; closer to Acropolis. I don't know what it costs these days, but it's worth looking into.

I stayed at Hotel Plaka and liked it very much. At night I could see the well-lit acropolis while lying in bed. Then in the morning, what a sight to wake up to!!

We always stay at Attilos Hotel. It has a rooftop bar with a great view of the Acropolis. Its just on the edge of the Monistraki, right in the Pisiri taverna area. Its just out of the tourist area so the people and shops around are authentic Greeks. The Athens market is a two minute stroll away. Meat, fish, bread veg nuts, olives and spices all over the place. (if you have a weak stomach stay out of the fish and meat buildings, particularly when suffering from jet lag)

Attilos is clean but quite modest. I think it was redecorated for the Olympics. Some rooms have an
Acropolis view. Internet rates are approx 100Euros however we were able to get it for 65E through Uli at Dolphin Hellas travel for May/June this year.

I don't have much use for luxury hotels because I don't spend much time there except to sleep, so a roof top bar with a view of the Acropolis, within a very short walk to the Plaka for 65E is just about perfect for me.

I am staying at Attalos for exactly the same reasons. Late May 2005, 72euros with breakfast. I like the fact it is near all the markets and shops, as well as the Metro.

I do plan to visit the Tempi while I am there to check it out myself perhaps for a future trip.

Hi Rick,

Please post back on your experience with Attalos and also, your thoughts in the Tempi if you do pop in to check it out. We definitely need more reviews of Greece hotels around here!

thanks,
Jill
