In Search of Montalbano - the ups and downs of 10 days in Eastern Sicily

No no Annhig. It was me who took local buses in Ragusa and whose trip report you read!! Sorry to cause alarm. I should have been more explicit.>>
gertie - I obviously needed a "joke" emoticon - I never for one minute thought that the bad driving was from you. [though I had forgotten that you were the public transport user]
sundried - it will be lovely to see you in Cornwall, though I can't promise you'll meet Ross and Demelza in person, sadly.

Is Doc Martin in Cornwall?>>
not at the moment, AJP, but it is filmed here with Port Isaac doubling as "Port Wenn". Poldark is also filmed mainly, but not exclusively in Cornwall.

I've come late to this, but just a couple of odd thoughts came to mind.
1. Wasn't there a Montalbano episode involving a puppet theatre? Or maybe it was a La Strada style travelling troupe.
2. The lost French couple looking for a port in Ragusa - wasn't Ragusa the old name for Dubrovnik?! They couldn't have been that lost, though.... Or could they?

I'm glad this thread popped up. I have FINALLY started to read the Montalbano books and I'm really enjoying them. Thanks for recommending them. I wish I had started reading them before we went to Sicily - I would have gone in search of Montalbano too.

You can stream all the episodes of Montalbano via MHZ choice. Plus, watch a different series-almost as good- called Young Montalbano which gives you the back story. And there are some other terrific mystery shows (Wallander, Magrit, etc.) available. Reasonably priced. We're total fans. Just Google it.

Hi Patrick - glad you found you way here. I had no idea that Ragusa was the old name for Dubrovnik - and yes they must have been way off course if that thought they were in Croatia! I don't remember an episode of Montalbano about a puppet theatre, but there have been so many episodes now, I could well have forgotten a few of them.
Glad to have converted you to Montalbano, John.
Harriet - all those series are shown on BBC4 in the UK, apart from Maigret [? Magrit?] which is on ITV I think. And yes I know how lucky we are.
