you must really be shocked Degas...
I mean for the shock to get past all that hair on your back, past that thick skin...past all those huge muscles...
*shocked* seems like such an understatement!

I take umbrage at the suggestion that Thingorjus has been known to“lob a harpoon into the boat of a newbie.” Thingorjus may accidentally spill gin on people, or throw profiteroles at the poorly dressed he spots on the streets of world-class cities. He may even misdirect tourists, with 70’s hairstyles, who approach him on his way to work in Philadephia. “The Liberty Bell, darling? Why, it is next to the Philadelphia Zoo. Just walk—no, no, you don’t need to drive—down Girard Ave. It is only a couple of blocks. And those men on the street corner eyeing up your shoes and purse? They are just local fashion mavens. The tall one’s name is Tyrell.”
Thingorjus would never maim the innocent. If you do suffer his wrath, all you have to do is raise your Prada opera cape and it will deflect all criticism, the same way Wonder Woman’s gold cuffs deflected the death rays of evildoers.

Handmaiden,
I think some newer posters never come back because they don't like the great advice they received, as it doesn't fit in with what they thought they could do (you know, those people who think they should see four countries in seven days...).

hey, Mary Fran, there's an easier way to find your posts than scrolling or using the search function. You just click on your username - either on the top bar where it says "welcome username" or on the left bar where it says "user - usernam". You will get a list in the left column of every thread you ever posted on. You can click on others' usernames as well to see what they have posted. I just wish there was a way to differentiate which threads a poster (or myself) originates vs. contributes to.

thank you to all who responded. There is alot of wit and humor on the board. My friend told me different.
Mary Fran post was quite helpful.
I will try to ask good questions that arent vague. Please let me know if I ask bad questions.
Planning my trip to Italy this fall will be easier with your help. I have done alot of reading on another travel forum and will read hours worth here.

Although this "tip" has worked since late January, 2003 - - it just became part of the new registrants' instructions (in their initial e-mail) in October 2005 - - after well over two year's of my hounding about it (along with others).
