Tiff, I was thinking the same thing as you so I guess I would add that when I blinked, when we will all be together for a visit on the Amalfi Coast in Italy!

I'm sitting outside the Falkland Arms in Great Tew, England with my husband, sister and brother-in-law. It's just before dusk, everything is bathed in a golden glow. The birds are getting ready for bed, we've spent the day at boot sales, getting lost on country roads, visiting Baddesley Clinton. We'll return to our cottage overlooking the village pond in Sibford Gower, will put a fire on, drink some wine and talk about our day. Heaven.

Since we can get to most places in Europe pretty easily, where I'd really like to be right now is in Port Townsend, WA, strolling along Water Street, having a cappuccino at one of the cafes, checking out the collection at Earthenworks Art Gallery, a good dinner, then ending the evening sitting on the pier.

Hallstatt, Austria. Something magical about that place, for me at least.

Btilke: Wow that's so cool that's where you would choose to go with all of Europe to choose from. Port Townsend is an hour or so away from where I live and is a lovely little town. But, Paris v. Port Townsend, hmmm Actually, I just blinked and I am sitting on the jetty in the little harbor in Vernazza sipping vino and eating olives.

I love Brazil, I love Europe, but if I could blink my eyes and be anywhere in the world right now, it would be in Gloucester, Massachusetts. I lived there for about 18 months and have dear friends there whom I would love to see again! Besides, I love Rock Neck, the place is beautiful! (For those of you who don't know, Gloucester is up in Cape Ann, next to Rockport).

Beachgirl, what a happy coincidence! I lived in Gloucester ten years ago, while working on my dissertation at B.U. Really hope to go back some day, maybe for my sabbatical...

Brazilnut: Where are you living now? I was lucky enough to grow up in Gloucester and Rockport, and I hope you can return sometime...hopefully in the summer! There is no better place for seafood and beaches, I love my home in the summer!

Beachgirl, I live in Salvador, Bahia. Beautiful place as well. I can see the Ocean from my flat window.
My favourite season in Cape Ann is fall. I used to love driving down 128 in the fall, soooooo beautiful!
Here is my e-mail: [email protected]

You can keep most of Europe for the summer.

I'll take Maine. Oh, maybe in the Alps, somewhere, or Iceland, or Greenland, or someplace else where it is too cool to want to swim.

Scotland is ok . . .
