Ideas for 2 week itinerary through Europe??
In celebration of having taken the Bar exam, a friend and I are interested in traveling to Europe for 2 weeks. We're willing to go just about anywhere, but can't seem to narrow down our options. We've decided that we'd like our trip to include Paris and/or Amsterdam. Any ideas for an itinerary that would include a mix of city and country at a "not too hectic" pace?? Thanks!

What season? Want to drive?
Fly into Basel or Strasbourg, wind your way through Alsace. Take in Burg Eltz en route to Aachen/Cologne. Circle through Maastrict, and/or Bruges (spanning a couple days) headed back towards Lille. Turn in the (French) car there, or drive it on into Paris. Finish with 5-7 days there.
Or make a plan that actually reflects YOUR wishes. Do some reading to learn about places that "call" to you.
Best wishes,
Rex

If you can wait til September, the weather is likely to be better, and the crowds to be less...
If I were to go to Europe for the first time (assuming you are), and I had two weeks, I'd go to London for 4 days, Amsterdam for 3, Paris for 5 and 2 days flex time for travel, be it by plane, train or car.
If you're into country stuff, I'd do a day trip or two from the big cities...Bath, England from London and Giverny or Chartres France from Paris
I'd get a copy of Rick Steves "Europe Through The Back Door" and see what he recommends for two weeks in Europe...I love his books -- especially for the first time over as he has great travel tips and ideas for seeing things I never woulda thought of.
Good luck, and most of all have fun,
Jules
