Ideas for 2 week itinerary through Europe??
In celebration of having taken the Bar exam, a friend and I are interested in traveling to Europe for 2 weeks. We're willing to go just about anywhere, but can't seem to narrow down our options. We've decided that we'd like our trip to include Paris and/or Amsterdam. Any ideas for an itinerary that would include a mix of city and country at a "not too hectic" pace?? Thanks!

What season? Want to drive?
Fly into Basel or Strasbourg, wind your way through Alsace. Take in Burg Eltz en route to Aachen/Cologne. Circle through Maastrict, and/or Bruges (spanning a couple days) headed back towards Lille. Turn in the (French) car there, or drive it on into Paris. Finish with 5-7 days there. Or make a plan that actually reflects YOUR wishes. Do some reading to learn about places that "call" to you. Best wishes, Rex |
What month ?

August -- any time after Aug. 9th.

If you can wait til September, the weather is likely to be better, and the crowds to be less...
If I were to go to Europe for the first time (assuming you are), and I had two weeks, I'd go to London for 4 days, Amsterdam for 3, Paris for 5 and 2 days flex time for travel, be it by plane, train or car. If you're into country stuff, I'd do a day trip or two from the big cities...Bath, England from London and Giverny or Chartres France from Paris I'd get a copy of Rick Steves "Europe Through The Back Door" and see what he recommends for two weeks in Europe...I love his books -- especially for the first time over as he has great travel tips and ideas for seeing things I never woulda thought of. Good luck, and most of all have fun, Jules |
Hmmm... August, huh?
Then, fly into Nice. After 2-3 days there, drive towards Lake Como or Stresa. After a few days there, head towards Annecy, then Lyon and onward to Paris. |
