Ideal week for Paris?

I would like to visit Paris soon. It will be my second trip. I'm flexible as to when to go. Can anyone suggest the ideal week in terms of weather and/or events? I was thinking that the first week of May might be ideal.

HOw can anyone predict an "ideal week" anywhere? Is the weather that predictable where you live? Short of being in the tropics or the arctic circle, few places have no variation in temperature, rainfall. It was 60 F here in PA for most of Dec.--about 20 degrees above "normal"; can we count on that next year? No, but it happened. An "average" temp. is only that--the average of several years of recorded meteorlogical data. Have we become so narcissistic that we have to have "ideal" situations in order to enjoy travel?

Weather wise May should be ideal. But the ONE perfect week differs from person to person. I would be perfectly happy to go to a market, brocante, Vanves, St Oeun, whatever every day, my husband is content to visit every military museum for a week or more. I have 1 friend who cannot live without visiting every store in Paris that sells jewelry, another spends her time looking for clothes, trying them on and studying trends. I have another friend that spends the whole week at the Louvre! So you have to make the decision of what your interests are .No one but you knows what your interets are!

There is a PERECT WEEK FOR EVERYONE!!

Every week in Paris is an ideal week. I have had good luck with the weather in May and September, but the weather in Paris is quite unpredictable. If it is sunny, enjoy the parks. If it rains, Paris has a year's worth of museums. Enjoy!

Hi Carla: take a look at
www.wunderground.com
When you access a forecast for a city, at the bottom of
the "current conditions" table, you'll see a box for "Historical Conditions". it's great for getting a general idea of temps/conditions during the timeframe you'll be there.
www.washingtonpost.com weather section also has historical data

My personal experience is that Paris has very fickle weather. The best weather I've had there has been in July and in September, but you'll always be playing with probabilities, not guarantees.
I can tell you that once in late May I had rain for four straight days and temps only in the 50sF. On the other hand, last Dec I had 4 days of sunshine
and temps only slightly colder than that.
I have to agree with Bill, but you can always go to weather.com and get the weather history. I also plan on going again in May. I was there during September and still had a wonderful time. I don't think when to go is the issue it's where to go. That in itself is a time consuming, but fun.

Any way you look at it. Paris is beautiful. I have even gone so far as to send my resume' to our foreign office.

I agree with JOdy, Bill, and Elaine.

I went to Paris last year the 3rd week of March. Weather vacillated between slightly rainy/cold to sunny/cold. But the flowers (Easter lilies?) had JUST sprung up from the ground in the area behind Notre Dame. Beautiful! Although cold, I thought the weather was perfect walking weather, plus the crowds were smaller, and had a great time. But for me off-season is better as air fares are cheaper ($378 roundtrip from Cincy to London) and I detest hot weather and crowds.

But May does sound lovely. As said before, there is no guarantee on great weather, but it should be warmer and more Spring-like with more trees and flowers in bloom (and hopefully no flooding from the Seine - which I also experienced).

Have a lovely second trip! : )

Hi:
I ve been in Paris in February, April and October. Although I will tell you ANY time us a great time to be in Paris. I found the weather a bit more bearable and predictable in October. Bring a waterproof coat, an umbrella and a smile and you'll be fine. Have Fun!
