umretdd - I'm so glad that you enjoyed my trip report. You might already know that they are having another volcanic eruption - though I think it is kind of iffy to actually hike to see it. Instead the Instagram drone photos/video look amazing. I hope that you can go and visit.
Clousie - I think our main local interaction was with Fred during our Thorsmork tour. We really peppered him with questions and he was very forthcoming. He mentioned that he had guided another family and that they hardly said a word which made him nervous as he couldn't tell whether or not they enjoyed themselves (later on he found out that they did have a good time). He felt it was much easier with us and encouraged us to ask whatever we wanted.
Another "thing to do" which I now regret that I didn't realize is that we could have arranged a tour of one of the geothermal plants. I think that that would be so interesting to learn about.
Finally, I realize when I look back at our photos - Iceland was pretty amazing and beautiful and I should be more appreciative of the opportunity that I had to visit. Thanks for your encouraging comments - waiting to start our Kenza/Tanzania trip in the near future!

imgwiz - so glad that you enjoyed it. I hope that the info is still relevant. Sometimes things change so fast - like the access to the Blue Lagoon for instance. It just seems crazy that it was pretty calm when we visited but now the parking lot is gone. Hope that your trip is both amazing and safe!
