IBERIA Airbus 340 to Madrid - Anybody?
As some of you may know we are traveling with miles on AA and Iberia (partner).
Our flight is Chicago - Madrid Airbus 340, Madrid - Lisbon little plane.
Has anybody traveled on this Iberia Airbus 340, we have seats row 8 and 9?
What can I expect about the flight 8 hours over the ocean so I can warn my kids?
I have my X..X to help me flight
We usually fly to Chile along the SA coastline, although is rocky sometimes, we are never over the ocean with no land close by.
Thanks,
Mia

Tell you children Mom is over reacting.
While no one can assure that one specific plane is not going to have trouble, airline travel is the safest mode of general transportation.
Additionally the flights that across the Atlantic take the circle routes. That is they follow, more or less, the curvature of the earth for flights to Europe. They travel along the coast of Canada before crossing the Atlantic. Of course, they do fly over a huge expanse of water, hence the name transatlantic. But it does save time.
They cannot, however, avoid the curvature of the earth on flights from Chicago to South America.

It's not true that there is no land near by. You have the US east coast plus Canada plus Greenland plus Iceland plus Ireland plus Britain. Why even mention anything about flying over water? If you feel the need to mention anything you could tell them that flying over water means there are no land masses to cause turbulence.
BTW - One of your "kids" is an adult.

I had no idea they fly North over the coast of Canada and UK, I thought they just cross across direction to Madrid as Chicago is South as Spain.
I just wanted to know how are the amenities in flight are, TVs on each seat, etc.
I'm aware one of my kids is an adult, but he is still my kid isn't he?

I flew back from Madrid-Chicago on Iberia as an AA partner and the main thing I recall about the flight is that the flight attendents were great at keeping my wine glass full.
I needed it, as the nice but quite large man from the Canary Islands next to me in the aisle seat (I was in the window seat) kept falling asleep on my shoulder...
Not my favorite flight, but certainly not the worst.
