Hi
Could you just say what you want to spend on a hotel, and what amenities you are looking for: elevator I assume because of 3 star, but air conditioning?
Will you want a single or a room for two?
If you click at the top of this screen on hotels you will find lots of Fodors suggestions along with comments from past guests--that may help you narrow things down.

For London I strongly recommend using Priceline. The exchange rate is so awful right now, choices in the $100-150 range will be pretty dismal. If you've never done it go to biddingfortravel.com-Read it several times & come abck with questions.
For Paris the options are endless. I don't suggest Priceline for Paris. I think you'll want a/c, even in June. I'd suggest doing a text search. Check le Madison which everyone seems to like. Not sure about their a/c. Also look at the Hotel St Peres on Rue de St Peres.
The south of France is a big place! In Nice look at the Westminster or La Perouse or the West End. The Brise Marine in Cap Ferrat also sounds nice. Where you stay really depends on what you want to do/see & whether you'll rent a car. If you want nice sand beach to relax look at Castel Garoupe in Antibes.

If you don't know about it, tripadvisor.com is a good place to look for "user" reviews. You can also do a text search here. I put albert 1er AND nice in the search box. There's nothing recent. Here's one review

Message: In early March, my wife and I stayed one night in the Hoel Albert 1er in Nice. It is about a block from the beach and the Promenade des Anglais. The rooms were OK, not particularly quaint, bathrooms fully equipped. The hotel is not new but had everything one needed for a place to stay. My two complaints are that the walls were a bit thin and the hotel had no parking of its own, though there are several parking garages within a few blocks. The cost before taxes was 500 FF per night -- remember this is in early March, you don't say when you are going. I am sure it will be more expensive and more difficult to get a room in the summer.

Hi paula,
Whenever a new message is posted to a thrad the thread goes to the top of the list, thus "topping" or "ttt".
You were down around 100, which is why I brought you back up.

Hi Paula,
If you're still looking in PAris you may want to contact the Hotel Victoria Chatellet. They are at:
www.hocvicha.com
We have stayed there over the past 15 years and have referred lots of others who were all very pleased. Best part is LOCATION. It's sitting on the largest metro station in Paris, a block off the Seine, and less than a 10 minute walk to Notre Dame, the Louvre, Saint Chapelle, etc.
It's either a two or three star, family run and very accommodating.
Have fun, it looks like you're packing a lot into a week and a half?
Via con dios,
Brian

Hi BDM-I will be traveling for 2 and 1/2 weeks not 1. Do you think i am cramming to many places in that time table. I have been to London 4 years ago-so I already saw most of the sights and i spent a day in Paris-which wasn't enough. Thanks!

Hi Paula, just wanted to say the I have also stayed at the Hotel Victoria Châtelet and was very pleased. We were there in 2001 and they were doing some renovations/redecorating at the time. It is NOT a fancy hotel, but it was very clean, and the staff was great, they always asked what we had seen/done that day and helped us with our French. As Brian said, the location is very tough to beat. Double with shower is 84-87 Euros. The metro station is huge, but well marked and it makes transportation incredibly easy. We walked to/from the hotel at night and always felt safe, but as in any large city, use common sense.

Just a thought for your Paris hotel. Take a look at Grand Hotel Jeanne d'Arc
3, rue de Jarente (4th ? Marais), Phone: 01 48 87 62 11, Fax: 01 48 87 37 31. Tube: St-Paul. Doubles are 78 ? 92 Euros (~ $100 - $118) The Marais is another great area to stay, lots of boutiques, cafes etc. Or the Hôtel Muguet at 11 rue Chevert in the 7th, I think a double is about 95 Euros. And a lot of folks on here have stayed at the Hotel Residence Monge at 55, rue Monge (5th ? Latin Quarter) Phone : 33 (0)1 43 26 87 90, Fax : 33 (0)1 43 54 47 25
75-130 Euros, E-mail: [email protected] and you can look at their website at www.hotelmonge.com
