Katie4: Here is the email I had for him as of November, If you want to try this email also: <[email protected]>
I don't know about the need for ac because we were there in Oct. but the windows did open onto the courtyard.

Thank you for the email address, happytotravel. i'm going to need to make a decision very soon.
It is unfortunate that there's no airconditioning. Does anyone know if Paris is still warm the 19-31 of August. For some places, that's when things begin to cool. I'm in Orlando, so it's hot here until January. However....I do use consistently use my air conditioning!
I've searched on many, many of the apt rental websites that are listed on this forum in various topics.
Unfortunately, I had only just decided this past week that I'd like to opt for an apt versus a hotel (due to my length of stay and other factors debated on the forum). So my search has intense and I'm a bit worn out! And...I leave on August 14th!

Go to weatherunderground.com and look for historical data.
I'd say you have a fair probability, based on past years, of getting highs above 85F. Whether that's comfortable or not will likely depend on how efficiently your apartment traps heat.
But it has been a cooler summer so far, and last August in Paris was not hot.

I agree with the other posters who said the rentals-paris apartment looks dark... it's suspicious that they didn't show any photos featuring windows, and I'd be wary of a loft situation if it does get hot.
I'm also renting an apartment in Paris at the same time you are... also not getting air conditioning, but I opted for an apartment with balconies. If you can't get a place with AC, look for one with windows you can open. Also, check slowtrav.com to see if anyone has posted a review. Someone posted one for my apartment from the heatwave of 2003 and said it stayed cool - good enough for me!
Good luck - looks like there are actually plenty of apartments available when you'll be there.

This is tough, I have been searching for apartments with ac for you, they are far and few between, but here is what I found
http://www.vrbo.com/75429 I found this one with ac and great reviews available until August 29th, however it has some connection with a nearby hotel if you need to spend an extra night. Takes credit cards
http://www.vrbo.com/124874 This one looks like the same owner, good reviews, ac and calendar says available for your dates, takes credit cards.
I have found others available for your dates but no AC. It looks like the ones without AC provide fans. Keep us posted, I'll keep my eyes open for you.

Well done, happytotravel! vrbo 75429 looks gorgeous, is in a fantastic area, is cheaper than the rentals-paris apartment, has AC, and has been positively reviewed by someone on Fodors just a few months ago.
Katie4, if I were you, I would cancel the rentals-paris apartment immediately and snap this one up (even if it means taking a hotel room on your last nights). What a fantastic apartment.

Wow Happytotravel....you are amazing! I've spent hours digging for finds and you excavated them in no time flat!
I've spoken with the guy associated with the two listings you provided. I'm definitely going with one of them!
Unfortunately, one of them (as you pointed out) is not available for the full stay, so I'll most likely go withe the other one. I've cancelled my reservations for that other one from a dya ago!
Now I just need to get my transportation booked from CDG to Belle Ile (trains and ferry) on the 15th. We leave Belle Ile on the 18th to go to Paris.
Thank you soooo much....

Seriously...I cannot thank you all enough for all of your input!
There are soooooo many options out there...and I've been overwhelmed sifting through it all, especially since this is my first time renting an apartment, first trip to France, and first trip to Europe, for that matter!
The point-of-contact, Jim (located in Georgia) was fabulous on the phone and so far everything seems smooth.
One of the cools things is that their apartments are managed by a hotel a few blocks away and their concierge service is available 24 hours!

Wow, I just have to say what great help you all gave Katie4. Especially redhedgurrl, to offer to walk by a particular location. The one she reserved, based on everyone's input, sounds like a much better deal for her, less expensive, better all around. This forum is amazing.

I want to concur about how good those last two apts seem to be - and the latter has so much light.
I have a friend who operates some vacation rental apartments in NYC, for which I've recently taken the new photos for online listings. There are a lot of things you can hide, fake or at least imply in photos, but you can't fake windows and views.
I see the word getting out and these being booked up!
The apartment (as well as the other one listed by the same people) is charming and modernized, the best of both worlds.

Well...I've given my 50% deposit (approx $1300 US) via Visa over the phone to the point-of-contact in Georgia (he was fabulous on the phone). I'm awaiting confirmation to show up in my inbox!
And..I called my bank to give them a heads up that this amount was going to be charged from a French company...so hopefully that will go smoothly.
I opted for the property I did because they had all of the dates available...the other one had all but one.
I'll definitely give you guys a trip report!

I didn't really have a reason for clicking on this thread, I was just browsing through the Europe posts at lunch, and I was blown away by the spirit of caring and helpfulness exhibited in this thread.
Standing ovation from me to the wonderful posters who helped Katie4!
