I have 2 days July each Budapest and Bratislava; where to stay? <$200/dble. My husband uses a wheelchair, we wil be driving a car; like to stay central; safe, and clean are my other requirements in order of priority. What lodging would you recommend?

I get hotel questions in Bratislava a lot... So I toured a bunch of them ... First, stay near old town... I would avoid the Perugia. The Acadia is probably my favorite and the Marrol (highest rated boutique hotel on Expedia in the world... Which is a bit of a stretch) has perfect service. They are the head of the class. The Avance is fine... Ugly street but good location. If you find a hotel and you are curious about it, just shoot me the name... I may know it ( I will certainly know the location)

Here is my post on Budapest... Including where I used to stay before I moved to Budapest?

Ah, and sorry... A wheelchair will not work in my hotel in Budapest... Sorry. Given that, I would certainly stay in Pest. The Bratislava old town could be a challenge with the stone streets... But I think it is where you need to be... Avoid the sheraton as it will be hard to get to and from.

Very good advice and really appreciated. Thanks for the heads-up on the Sheraton. Loved your trip reports. Makes me curious-- what was in the breakfast?

Thanks again for the god advice!

Marriott Hotel in Budapest is very nice and a great location overlooking the Danube (on the Pest side). I've read here on Fodors of people getting it for very cheap on Priceline (about $65/night!!!)

I was thinking the Marriott would be best... (The breakfast was just peppered with amazing conversation!)... Enjoy your stay... Two of my favorite cities!

If you get stuck on Bratislava, please reach out to me... Lots of really bad choices for people with limited physical mobility.

worldinbetween/others-- we ended up staying at the Art Wiliam Hotel. Very centrally located, the lobby is located within an upscale shopping centre and the rooms are on Floors 4-5. I actually loved the setup, we even had a balcony. Great price, breakfast included, free wi-fi. Definitely recommend this hotel if spending time in Bratislava.

right.. that is on Laurinska, I think... About a 1 minute walk from our apartment (on Grosslingova - near the blue church).

Did you have any noise issues?... (and were you there on Fri/Sat)? The location is very nice. But I did worry about noise. That is my only concern in that location.

cantraleurope-- no noise issues at all at the Art wiliam Hotel. We were there on a Friday, late July; during the heat wave (has it stop?) Our balcony opened to an inner corridor. They could had been a bit more generous on toiletries, but the room was spotless. Definitely would stay here again.
