Hey, ya gotta feel sorry for those Nigerians. They don't even have spellcheck on their computers!
I like the ones that are supposedly from attorneys and are full of grammatic and spelling errors. They try to sound so professional, but it just doesn't cut it.

Does bcc-ing addresses mean that any reply written to the sender automatically go to every bcc-ed recipient too?
Or was the person who told me that winding me up? (I haven't used bcc since just in case).

It could be from Fodors, but just as easily not.
I get some of those spam with one of my personal email addresses that has never appeared on the web, anywhere, anytime. In fact, I have about 6 email addresses, and I get spam on all of them and a couple of them have never appeared in public (they do get very little spam, but a bit).
I get spam on my work email address and it has an extension that is not commonly known (my company name), and my name in front is very unusual. I know I am getting those because someone had a virus or something that harvested my work email address out of their address book. That can happen, I've been told.
On my other ones, some of the names I know are problem just generated by guesses. If it's your email address above, that one would be pretty easy to automatically generate as the ISP is common, isn't it? "jmk" is one of only about 1000 combinations of three letters. I think some of my addresses are getting a little spam just from automatic generation because they have a very common ISP (aol.com).
the one I get the most on is because it had appeared in the "profiles" on AOL.com and people can harvest names out of that section automatically, I think. That's why I never fill out "profiles" in other places I have email addresses (like Yahoo).
I think Fodors tells you your email address appears, I thought I remembered that -- that's why I don't post mine because I know you have a choice. They have to have one from you for registration, but they ask you if you want it to appear on the forum (something like that).
I get that Nigerian spam letter in French, as well as English. I think it is very nice of those guys to selfishly enrich others.

<<the people in the CC: or BCC: block are only included in a reply if the sender specifies "Reply all" instead of "Reply" when answering.>>
And it only takes one careless person to do that. See it all the time.

So let me see if I understand this correctly. You post an email address on all your posts, and now people are actually sending emails to that address, often spam, possibly about travel since your email is posted on a travel website. OK. Yes, I hate that too. I put a sign in front of my house saying I'm interested in real estate and I put my phone number on it. Would you believe it? Some people actually call that phone number and want to sell me real estate. Pretty amazing isn't it?

OK, I can't resist any longer. If you have a few minutes and want to be VERY amused, take a look at

This is a guy who, shall we say, has instituted the "Nigerian payback."

Patrick, I think a better analogy would be that your phone number is on a sign in your fenced-in back yard, and only intended for your guests to see.
Fodor's left the gate open, so it is visible to people going by on the street.

Apparently Fodors shares email with the Nigerians who want to give family fortunes away. In my case it is those generous and kind people of the *Ivorie* Coast. Just this week I learned I won an email lottery in the Netherlands. The reason I know that Fodors is eager to share is because NO ONE has this user name except Fodors. And often I am addressed by this name by the Nigerians or whoever is trying to give me their fortune.
