Totally overwhelming--and I have done all of that. What does Lugano have to do with the Bernina Express?

You intend to see Venice in a couple of hours or so?

It's too fast, and too much time on the train in a week, but if that's what you want to do...at least spend the night in Venice!

I would skip Venice entirely if you have only the better part of a day for it. Venice is one of the worst places for a day trip. Add that better part of a day to another of your stops.

I'm exhausted just reading your itinerary. You almost seem to be spending more time traveling than seeing! Slow down.........

Skip Rome. Add the days to Venice. Then return home from Venice or Milan.

Rome is an incredible city, but for logistical reasons, it does not belong to a trip to Switzerland and northern Italy. Save Rome for a separate trip. Then spend a week in Rome, and also visit the Naples/Capri/Sorrento area.
