How to pick seats on Trenitalia site?

Trying to buy 3 first class seats on a Florence-Rome leg in the beginning of June.

The site asks you to pick a carriage and then seats - is there a seat map available that I'm not finding?

Also, are you only allowed to put in one seat at a time? In the seat number area, it doesn't allow you to add more than one seat - how do you include all the seats for your party?

You don't pick your seats. The slot where you can put a seat number is where you want to sit close to. For example, your friend has already booked his tickets, and he has Car 2, Seat 31. You put that number in so your three new tickets will be close by.

Otherwise, you just pick what KIND of seat you want in that figure. Single, Aisle or Window; and whether to have two people facing each other or side-by-side.

rkkwan,

So if you can't pick your seats, trenitalia automatically assigns you seats?

Is there a map of the train seats on trenitalia?

I noticed on the site it mentioned window or aisle, but how do you do this for the whole group?

I just logged on to trenitalia.com and found that they no longer have that little seating figure.

Anyways, I wouldn't really worry about it. They'll put all 3 of you close together, and you'll be comfortable in 1st class.

rkkwan,

So I just have to pick a carriage car and a seat number, and it will automatically assign all three of us seats?

Why even pick a car and seat?

Just leave everything empty. You'll be assigned 3 seats together or very close together.

Hi anna,

Once upon a time, tren gave you a little chart. They no longer do that.

You tell Trenitalia how many tickets you want.

They assign you seats.

Enjoy your visit.

You can no longer pick particular seats unless you buy one seat

Thanks Ira and je15211 - doesn't it seem pointless for trenitalia to even have a slot to pick a carriage number and seat number if they assign you random seats anyway?

It is not pointless.

Again, as I described in my first reply, that's where you input carriage and seat number where you want to sit close to. I already gave you example and reason why one would want to do that - if your travel companion already has bought seats.

There is a point to it. Just not for your scenario.

I found this website pdf when I was booking Rome to Naples seats. I believe this page represents many of the trains in Italy. Hope it helps!

Thanks sardog for the link, but it seems like trenitalia will just assign us seats.
