How to get museum tickets for Rome and Florence?

I'm visiting Rome, Florence and Venice at the end of August, and stay in each place for 3-4 days. A friend just told us someone waited for 4 hours in line to just get the ticket to visit the museum in Florence. So I'm think whether there's a better way to get museum tickets in advance, to save the time in line (also save money if possible). Thanks in advance for your advice.

It's easy. Email your hotel and ask them to make reservations for you. We did this when we visited Florence two weeks ago and only waited a few minutes in the line for reserved tickets.

When visiting museums in Venice ask them if you get a discount with an isaac student card. I am not sure if you have one or not but if you do then you get a several euro discount.

I will suggest calling the museum directly. That way you'll know it's gettting done! The staff speaks perfect English and will make the reservation for you. Then you show up at the proper line and cut through to the front like a V.I.P.! It's what I did before travelling with friends to Florence, and one lady in our group who was about 5 months pregnant was very grateful to not have to stand in line on a very warm day in May!
