Rome Apartment Suggestions
I did something similar to this while trying to find my Paris apartment. I had great success, and I think I've found the "perfect apartment". However, I've had even more trouble finding a place in Rome. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for apartments you'd stayed in and/or agencies you've used? We are a family of four, looking for a two bedroom apartment, preferably with 2 baths, but not a necessity. My weekly budget for the apartment would run around $3,000, although lower is obviously preferable. I would prefer to stay in an apartment that is similar to a four star hotel.

We stayed here in 2011 after a trip to Sicily. It is a beautiful building in a fantastic location but it is definitely not a luxury apartment. One of the bedrooms has twin beds.

Keep it in your back pocket, but given what you're looking for in Paris, I'd say this one would be coming down in the world quite a bit.

Rome is old! I've rented nicer apartments in Paris but more soulful, more evocative apartments in Rome.
We rented a tatty but elegant place once that is no longer on the market, two terraces, a gazillion stairs and a music room (with piano). But yes, it was crumbling.

I spent a week in Rome in August 2012 with my husband and two nieces. We rented this apartment and loved it. Great location, fabulous air conditioning, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with plenty of space and privacy.

I, and others on this board, have used the agency Sleep in Italy with good results.
http://www.sleepinitaly.com/
I generally go for mid-priced accommodations, so I can't recommend a specific apartment. However, you can search the site by price, features (e.g., terrace) and location. They offer a Deluxe category that might include what you are looking for.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. Sleep in Italy looks very good, and even their deluxe apartments aren't extremely expensive. Also, the apartments jmc714 and tracilee look very nice too.

Has anyone stayed at this Sleep in Italy apartment specifically?

Seems a good area, nice apartment, not too expensive. Thoughts? My main issue is with the single beds. I don't know if they'll be long enough for one of our teenage group members, as she's almost 5'10'".

We had tried to book that apartment..I really liked the look of it !! (after feeling hopeless that there was nothing nice at all in Rome..which of course isn't true I was just feeling down about it) It was booked for the time we wanted it and I was so upset (though wasn't indicated on their calendar yet) The owner was very friendly when emailing me. I think it looks great! We are just there for 2 nights with our 3 so opted for a small suite in a boutique hotel
Hope you have a fabulous trip!!!

Thanks dc2002. I still haven't gotten the dates for our vacation, although I hope they work out so we can stay in the apartment! I also felt the same way about Rome... so many of the apartments don't look very nice and/or are in bad locations.

We have rented from SleepinItaly.com and we had a good experience with them. We stayed in a 2bedroom in Trastevere.
Not luxurious, but worked fine for us. If I had to choose again, I'd work with SleepinItaly, but I'd choose a different apt. (The apt. was fine, but the street noise was a bit loud.

We stayed in an apartment we rented through www.residenzagiubbonari.com. The apartment was in the Campo de Fiori area and was excellent. There are many different apartments in the building. It was not four star but it was very comfortable and did have two baths. It was really easy to rent and the agent was very nice.

We have been to Rome 8 times & have stayed in apartments each time. For our past 3 trips we have used Roman Reference http://www.romanreference.com/en/
and have found them a really good agency to work with. When we did have an issue at the apartment (with WiFi) they dealt with it in a efficient & friendly manner.
