I'm an American and so far I've been to England, Scotland, Wales, Paris, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland

My parents, both Americans, have been to England & Germany. And my brother has been to France.

Of course it does take money to travel abroad, and there may be many Americans that are living paycheck to paycheck.

I am American and so far I have

Lived in Japan for 3 years

I have been to Europe 5 times: Amsterdam, London (3 times), Paris (4 times), Provence, Loire, Nice, Milan, Florence, Madrid, Bermuda and am planning a trip to Switzerland in July and Milan again in the fall. We have only traveled once when it was not on business. Taken the kids once. Generally tack a week onto the business trip for pleasure.

Does Kauai and Hawaii count? It is overseas but no passport required.

Signed,

Ronda (note no H in my name)

Borrowing Sjoerd's formatting:

* North America: Canada, USA (have now visited around 2/3 of the States including Alaska, hoping to get back to some of the east coast states soon)
* South America: Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia
* Europe: France many many times, also numerous visits to Italy, Spain and some of her islands, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Czechoslovakia (it was then), Hungary, Romania, Austria, Greece (mainland and some islands), Switzerland, Portugal (including Madeira), Ukraine, Russia, Turkey.
* Africa: Morocco, Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana
* Asia: India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore

Haven't been much to the Asia or Australasia. Hoping to visit USA in 2003, and get back to Southern Africa in 2004. Want to also do trips this year or next to Tallinn and to Bologna. Will probably do more weekend trips to France too.

I love to travel, but I also love to dream about the very many places I haven't yet been to or wish to get back to and see more of.

Hi Interrested, I think you'll find a pretty good assortment of international travelers on this site. As an American I've been to Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Aruba, Jamaica, England, Ireland, France, and Italy. As you can see here most of us are die hards. It amazes me to see how many colorful places some of the others have been!

I am American and mostly dream about Europe through this website and other sources. I have been to Europe 3 times in the last 5 years - England, Italy and France. I got a late start traveling in life so I am trying to go every other year to a new country. It takes me that long to save for a new trip so I mostly dream.

Actually close to 20% of Americans have passports ... so a minority, but not that small a minority.

And yes, I am an American by birth and a Southerner by the Grace of God ;>)

56 countries and counting !!!

Yikes, I have a lot of catching up to do! First trip overseas was as a foolish young girl - hitchhiked through Spain and Morrocco! Would shudder if my kids did that today. I have visited all the Canadian provinces and have visited many U.S. states including California, New Mexico, Florida, D.C., New York and more, Australia, Greece, Great Britain (twice), France (twice), Italy (twice), Portugal, and a European bus tour. My next trip hopefully will be to Spain!

Travel to Europe about every other year, hope to make it every year before long. We're going back next month.

My wife and I lived in Japan for one year. I had a job at the University of Tokyo.

I am both American and Suisse. I have lived in Zurich, Switzerland, Bludenz, Austria, Hamilton, Bermuda. I have pretty much covered most of Central Europe. I have not lived in Paris yet, but I am planning to. Still in the long stages of planning for China, but I will be in Japan in August and then Paris again this year.

After reading some of the other peoples posts I'd say you have been misinformed.

I do not know where you "heard" your information but it sounds bogus. I doubt you willbe able to get a good measurement of anything on this forum. If you want some completly unscientific input, almost every american I know or have known has been abroad at least once.
