Hi<BR>I also live in Sydney - 2 grown children stil living at home and 2 dogs. Like the first poster hubby and I are planning our first trip to Europe nex April/May. WOuld like to see it ALL but time restrictions mean 6 weeks at best - plan on 5 days London, 5 days Southern England, 7days Paris, 7 days in cottage in Uzes (near Avignon), 2 days Milan, 4 days Venice, 5 days Rome and 5 days in Positano. <BR>Have always dreamed of travelling to Europe - I am always kicking myself for not doing it sooner.<BR><BR>And my husband thinks if we go for 6 weeks I will really get it out of my system. IS HE MISTAKEN?????? I know it will just make my itchy feet even itchier.<BR><BR>Glad to know there are other aussie fodor fanatics out there.

Not an Aussie, American, but was in Sydney and surrounding area in 1990, been doing Europe & islands since then. I would like info on must sees of Australia, we loved it there!!

<BR>Hey Pam,<BR><BR>Glad to hear that you enjoyed Australia. If you ever return make sure you get up to the Whitsunday Islands which are part of the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. The marine life is a sight you will remember the rest of your life and the coral reefs are amazing, however with reefs disappearing by the minute all around the world I would see it sooner than later. A visit to the Northern Territory or perhaps Western Australia will show you the Australian "outback" with great country towns full of wonderful Australian characters, just don't expect Paul Hogan or the Crocodile Hunter, and glorious rugged landscapes. If you have more questions, ask away.<BR><BR>To my Australian friends out there, nice to know I'm not alone. Ah Helen, do grown children ever move out? I'm beginning to think not. My eldest is 22, next one 15 and youngest is 11. We thought if we waited for all of them to be grown up before we made the big trip we would both be on walking frames. I lived in England and Ireland for four years 25 years ago and have been planning trips, reading books and brochures ever since. My family and friends all know I'm obsessed but over the years I have dragged them along to amazing places, good and bad, and they all have stories to tell. Travel changes you life and your perspective. However, for me Australia is the best place on the planet.

Harzer - you're an Aussie??? Wow!!!<BR><BR>I read the board frequently, but never disclose my name when I post. I am always amazed at your knowledge of the Harz, and of Germany in general! My area of "European expertise" tends to be Germany as well - for heritage reasons.<BR><BR>I love it in Oz, have been everywhere except S.A. (coincidence?), and definitely would like to live there one day!

We live in Melbourne and love to travel, both overseas and here in Australia. We had 5 weeks in Italy this year, last year was 3 weeks in far north Queensland, year before was 5 weeks in Canada and the USA. I'm obsessed by travel, love the months of planning, my husband enjoys it when he's there but isn't the slightest bit interested in poring over guidebooks (which is good really, I don't get any arguments about where to go!). Have been all over the place, particular favourites are the USA and Europe.<BR>Kay

I'm an aussie living in the US! In Seattle in fact, and am travelling around Europe oct - dec, then coming home to Adelaide to study. I have lived in UK for 4 years, saw some of europe and am now going back for more!<BR>
