but I love your plan as I'm sure your DD will too, whatever split of time you decide upon.

I think you know your daughter best. I can definitely see the logic or the inspiration of sharing a beautiful mountain interlude with someone who is in now in Paris and would be heading to Venice. Since this is an unexpected gift, hard to see how you'd end up hearing complaints that you should have given more time to one place or the other.

Merano is gorgeous- just what I needed: a beautiful, tranquil time-out. Not really sightseeing, just hanging and enjoying the scenery until my daughter arrives. Then we'll be on the go.

<suze, I hope you don-t mind my saying that if you really cannot fathom a trip other than the one you would take then if there is something to be skipped here, why not you skipping the thread?>

Because this is a forum where everyone is free to post their experiences, observations, and opinions. Tamaraten can choose to do with each posts as she likes (consider them, ignore them, whatever).

I've been to both (Venice 6 times) and remember Merano as beautiful with great food. How's the current weather in both places? If it's hot… I'd lean toward Merano for most days.. but since you're flying out of Venice it makes sense to spend some time there no matter the temp. -
