Personally I prefer SAS as I've flown them for over 3 decades. I lived in Copenhagen for 20-plus years of summers.
I also go to Paris about once a year, for vacation, from the States, and I have flown Air France several times and in my opinion, they are tolerable...definitely not my first choice. I've gotten more than a few difficult-bad mood-snappy flight attendants on Air France in comparison with many other airlines that I've flown. When I fly Air France, it's usually because I've cashed in my frequent flyer miles and their flight scheduling is convenient...LA-Paris, non-stop whereas most American carriers have a stop somewhere in the U.S. before flying on to Europe.
As far as the luggage goes, the European carriers are very strict with the luggage. I have, more than a few times, been required to check in my regulation-size ,carry-on suitcase which I take on Asian-carrier flights with absolutely no problems...except flying through Japanese Airports. So, when I go to Europe, instead of packing the 21(?)-inch carry-on suitcase, I sometimes bring out my 18-inch carry-on suitcase equivalent so that I don't get hassled about it.
On one Air France flight, out of L.A., the Air France worker was walking around looking at passenger's carry-ons while we all stood in line and nearly made everyone check in his/her carry-on suitcase. I didn't have to check mine on that particular flight...thank goodness. Happy Travels!
