How Crazy is Croatia in August
My husband and I are planning his "bar trip." Due to scheduling constraints, we only have the first few weeks of August. We know that the Croatian coast will be crowded, but how bad does it get? I really want to visit Croatia, but my husband thinks if we have to deal with a crush of tourists, we might as well be in Greece or Italy. How do the crowds really compare? What are some off the beaten path locations we should consider?
Thanks

I go to Croatia every summer...I have a house in Istria and Dalmatia. Anyway there are many Italian vacationers in August because of Ferre Agosto and Germans as well. A few extra people are no big deal....traffic on the border between Italy and Crotia is a pain and so is parking...that is my only complaint. I love it in August. The water temperature is great. Yes there are more people on the beach and in the cafe's but I love hearing the languages being spoken in passing. This is why I return every year to my homeland. BTW...I think the further south you go, the less tourists you will encounter, because some only come for the weekend, by crossing the border. Don't worry you'll have plenty of beach to rest your towel(there is plenty of coastline!) and the clubs and cafes are great....ENJOY!!!

I am also planning my "bar trip" to Croatia with my husband for the exact same time! I've heard that even though there is heavier traffic then than other times of the year, it is not nearly as crazy as other European desinations.
