Hotels In Venice and Florence For $175.00 Per Night

Are there any good hotels in Venice or Florence for no more than $175.00 per night?

I don't have it any longer, but last year I compiled quite a list of Venetian hotels in that price range by searching older threads on Venice here.

In Florence, try TOURIST HOUSE GHIBERTI. In Venice, try PENSIONE LA CALCINA, which has some rooms ( without view on the shipping canal) that should be within your price range.

Pension La Calcina has 3 seasons for rates shown on the website above, plus view or non-view prices. All rooms are lovely. Ranging from 99 to 186 euro ($120-225 USD).

I second Weadles' choices of Tourist House Ghiberti in Florence and La Calcina in Venice. We stayed at each in the Fall and liked them both.

Suggest you try Priceline and try for a four star hotel--which may in reality be a 3-and-a-half. Go to www.biddingfortravel.com and learn all about the hotels available and the bidding process. Hotels in Italy are quite expensive, but you may get lucky---depending almost entirely upon when you plan to travel.

$175 USD, correct? Here's one of the more recent threads mentioning a number of Venice hotels under about 150E/night. You'll find many others by typing venice and hotel and budget into the search box.

PS: I can second the recommendation for the Leon Bianco, and add that I also enjoyed the Locanda Gaffaro.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We are looking to go in mid june which I may believe is high season, so we may end up paying a little more than $175 USD per night, which is not a huge problem.

Florence: Hotel Enza
Venice: Locanda Fiorito in St. Stefans square, Acadamia Bridge

Albergo Doni near Plaza San Marco

Of the two choices in Venice I prefer the Fiorito although both are fine and well located.

Try to make your choices quickly! You're going in high season, and many places are probably sold out. Good luck!

Even at a bit higher price range, popular hotels do sell out well in advance for summertime. I would get reservations (particularly for Venice) asap.

In Venice, try the Hotel Galleria, on the Grand Canal at the Accademia Bridge - we paid 155 euros/night for their best room (#10) in September '05.

Before you think this over too much, with a trip coming up pretty quick, I'd find 4 hotels in each city that are centrally located and fit your budget and contact them for availability. No sense stewing over this too much if places are already booked up.

In Florence -- another vote for the Tourist House Ghiberti.

In Venice -- if it isn't too pricey -- the Hotel Paganelli. Our favorite hotel in Venice. It's even mentioned in one of Donna Leon's books.

Good luck!

In Florence, if Tourist House Ghiberti is booked, try Panella's Residence - B&B converted from old stable. It was very comfortable, Sra. Panella is charming - THGhiberti recommended it since they were booked when we were looking last year.

The previously mentioned venere.com site will allow you to search by dates and then sort by price. Very useful!
