Dan, you can't go wrong with Casa de la Juderia. Located in the heart of the Santa Cruz area and everything is within walking distance.

Dan, Feria de Abril starts this year on Monday 15th of April and lasts until Sunday 21st approximately two weeks after Holy Week processions.

If you like a modern hotel try NH Plaza des Armas. They usually have rooms but you must have a reservation. A bit off the beaten path but within walking distance to everything. We found it by accident after growing tired of those "charming" hotels that seem like 'Torquimado (sp?) slept here'. We liked it. Big rooms and very quiet. Feria is April 16-21 this year.
