Hotel Aramis was *very* highly recommended to us by a colleague of my husband. She swears by it. [And she is picky] We choose Hotel Bersoly's instead because it was nearer the museums. [And liked it very much] From what I have heard Aramis is a very nice place indeed.

There is indeed a Best Western Hotel with the word Aramis in the title. It is the Aramis St. Germain which is located at 124 rue de Rennes in the 6th ARR. It is located very close to Boulvard Montparnasse and the Metro hub where at least 3 lines cross. Also there are at least 5 bus lines in the immediate vicinity. So getting around is no problem. One bus route goes right by Hotel des Invalides and Musee d'Orsay. Another goes over the Seine in front of Ste. Chapelle, which is very close to Notre Dame.
Another line goes to the Arc de Triomphe, and another wanders up to St. Lazare. And #91 goes along Montparnasse to the Opera Bastille.
We stayed at a hotel called the Acacias St. Germain, which is located across the street from the Aramis. But don't confuse the two because the Aramis is much better, although it is more expensive.
The area itself is lively. There are many restaurants along Boulevard Montparnasse. A post office is a few yards from the hotel in the direction of Boulevard Montparnasse. There are also ATMs and banks along the street. And, for me, best of all, there was a pastry stand called La Brioche Doree close to the hotel.

We stayed in a hotel close to the Aramis St. Germain that has a similar name: the Acacias Saint Germain. But don't confuse the two, because I concluded that the Aramis was a better, if more expensive, hotel.

The rates at the Aramis St. Germain run about $130 a night unless you can "swing a deal". The area is fine because you are not far from many places to eat along Boulevard Montparnasse and there are several bus lines that run along Rue de Rennes and several more on Boulevard Montparnasse. Moreover, the Metro station at Mont Parnasse is a focal point for several Metro lines.
And other Metro lines are in the area.
That area of Paris is a mix of residential and business establishment on street level. A post office is near the hotel, and La Brioche Doree is just down the street with all of its lucious goodies!! Also, ATM's are handy.
And if you get really desperate, a MacDonalds is near the intersection of rue de Rennes and Boulvevard Montparnasse.
This is more than you asked, but I know others read these postings, so I thought I would supply a little more detail.

we stayed practically 500 ft. from the musee d'orsay at a chain hotel called libertel bellechasse located on the rue bellechasse on the left bank in November. (They have their own web site.) rooms were TINY. ASK FOR A JUNIOR SUITE. breakfast was american i.e. scrambled eggs, juices and fruits, cold cuts, lovely parisian breads and pastries all served in a small but charming dining room. the staff was reserved but helpful. From the hotel it was but a couple of hundred feet to the musee, the seine and the metro as well as a fiftenn minute walk across the ponte carousel to the louvre. we did the eurodisney (grandchildren with us) and enjoyed it; restaurants in the surrounding area were fair to good except for the cafe des beaux artes located naturally behind the ecole des beaux artes which was excellent. there are many antique and art shops in the area which make window shopping fun and you are so close to the seine that a daily walk after dinner every night is a must. we were unable to find a room at the libertel that was large enough for our daughter and two grandchildren so they stayed at the hotel du quai voltaire which is right on the seine. They stayed on the fifth floor in a triple room which was immense by any standards particularly Paris, but be advised that the hotel is VERY noisy as the rooms face the street. It also is very old and needs a good face lift, but the staff is exceedingly helpful. make a visit to the bon marche store; it has a great food emporium and also stocks ready made items if you need a snack between meals. The area has cafes and patisseries all over so you're never far from food. we were able to travel everywhere on the metro or by foot. just remeber to bring comfortable walking shoes and enjoy. We can't wait to go back.

Margaret: We stayed at the Best Western Aramis for a week three or four years ago. It's OK and in a good location. Bob Brown's post describes the location very well. You can find more details on the Best Western web site www.bestwestern.com.
