Hotels in Paris

My husband and I are going to Paris for 4 days 2/27 through 3/3. Does anyone recommend a 3-4 star hotel in either Le Maris, Saint Germain, or Latin Quarter? It is our first time to visit, and our 25th anniversary so we want something kind of special.

Is this a troll?

No offense, but your e-mail says the Herald Tribune and you're asking US for advice? Something doesn't quite compute.

But truly, no offense intended.

Everyone has their own favorite in Paris . . mine is Hotel de Fleurie in the 6th (St. Germaine). Friendly and efficient staff, comfortable rooms, better than average breakfast and great location. .

http://www.hotel-de-fleurie.tm.fr/version_anglaise/homepage.htm

Enjoy . . Rich

Mary, I don't get what the herald tribune in the email address has to do with anything. Many newspapers offer to their subscribers free email service and the name of their paper is part of the address. It doesn't necessarily mean anything about lucy. Just like an aol address doesn't mean the person works for aol.
Lucy, my favorite (we stayed there a week on a splurge and again for two days before flying home) is the Relais St. Germain. Very large and beautifully furnished rooms in a great location right at Odeon and Saint Germain Blvd. The owners are antique dealers/decorators and it shows. It will probably be about $250 to $275 a night, but worth every penny if you want to splurge a bit. At least breakfast is included.

Just to satisfy your curiosity - I work at a newspaper but in a production capacity with nothing to do with editorial content or travel info!

Just returned from Paris. This time stayed at the BW Left Bank. It's just about a block from the Relais St. Germain. I had also considered the Relais T. Germain but read some negative comments about it so didn't feel the extra $100+ per night would be justified. We were very happy with the Left Bank. Great locatiion, our room was about 6 times larger than the room we had last year at the Dauphine St. Germain and less money. We looked at the one suite they offer and it was quite spacious and nice. Also saw room 505 which has a view of Notre Dame. It was a standard double. Rooms are furnished very nicely with antiques. Have also stayed at Regina (4 star in the 1st) and would stay at the Hotel Left Bank over that based on price, location, etc.

Judy

Mary, you are harsh! So if someone works at the Herald Tribune, that makes them privvy to information about hotels in Paris?

Well, the assumption is that they have an international office in Paris so I FELT that the poster would be privvy to info that the rest of us wouldn't. But, as you can see, I've already been chastised and corrected even though no offense was intended.

Very sorry, Lucy. I apologize for my ignorance. And hope you have a lovely trip in Paris!! : )

Hi Lucy. I'll be in Paris at that time also; for my fortieth birthday!

Anyway, I can offer suggestions for the Marais, which is my favorite area:

Hotel Axial Beaubourg
Tel : 01.42.72.72.22
Fax : 01.42.72.03.53
E.mail : [email protected]

Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais
Tel : 01.42.72.34.12
Fax : 01.42.72.34.63
E.mail : [email protected]

Hotel du Bourg Tibourg : 331 42 78 47 39
Hotel de la Bretonnerie: 331 48 87 77 63
Hotel du Vieux Marais : 331 42 78 47 22

If you do on these hotels on google, who'll come up with some websites. Since you're leaving in just over a week, I'd book quickly! Oh, the above hotels are 3*. Have a great time!
