hotels in Krakow
We are having a hard time finding a hotel or B&B in Krakow in late March 2001. We prefer Old Town and something under $100 per night. The WWW sites have not yielded any with vacancies for 2 people for atleast 2 nights. We prefer not to give our credit card # out and worry about being charged if we cancel less than 3 days in advance.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

You have one good thing going for you - that till end of March you still have the low season, so you should have no problem finding something under $100. Suggestion to is too look over the following sites, and calling the hotels directly to check what's available and to make reservations. Many hotels in Poland will accept a reservation, even without a credit card number, and many speak english.
As for sites check:
www.polhotels.com
www.hotelspoland.com
www.hotelsinpoland.com
www.orbis.pl
www.orbis-usa.com
www.inyourpocket.com

Many of above links have pictures/location discription/prices
as well as hotels phone numbers.

I used several of Peter's sites when I was looking for a hotel. Once I had found the one I wanted, I emailed them. While they wanted the card number to hold a room, I was able to not have to give my number. I stayed at the Polonia, which is about a 3-minute walk from Old Town and 2-minute walk from the railstation, and paid about $53.

Hi We were in Cracow three yrs ago and stayed in the Hotel Europjeski. It was very inexpensive, near the main train station and included breakfast. It also had gated parking which we needed. The cost was about $40 night. It was listed as a 1 star hotel but was better. It had no elevator but did have a nice lobby. I beleve I ffound it in the Fodors Eastern Europe Guidebook. I then mailed a letter for reservations and did not give my credit card. I don'y remember if they acepted cards, but it was 3 yrs ago and things change so fast in eastern europe. Highly recommend that hotel
alan
