Hotels in Granada

I am going to Spain in March, and I've been already told that Parador in Granada is already booked for the period. I was going to contact Hotel America, but someone posted a message that parking is a problem there (I am going to rent a car). My next choices are Alhambra Palace and Hotel Ma(r)cia. Does anyone have contact numbers or URL?
Tom

I recommend that you recondsider Hotel America. It is next door to the Parador and you have access to the Parador patio and restaurant. The location is ideal on the Alhambra mount. You drive your car up the hill to the front door and unload your luggage, then park down below - about a block and walk back up. I think there are also shuttles.

Keep checking the parador. People often cancel as the date draws near and there is no waiting list, the next one to ask gets. Keep faxing the parador to see if they have openings. We got in several weeks before our trip, even though earlier requests were denied. We really liked the parador.

I guess I will stay at Hotel America if I can book. Does anyone know how to contact the hotel? If Parador and Hotel America are not available, then which hotel do you recommend?
I need any reservation in hands before I keep on trying to get into Paradoe in Granada.
Can anyone help?
Tom

Hello Tom, My Mom and I stayed at the Hotel Macia back in 1994. It was a nice hotel, very simple, but with comfortable beds. Our room faced the back side. The hotel is right on the plaza at the base of the Alhambra. Perfect location. The price at that time was terrific (about $35 per night). I can get you the phone number and address if you email me at home (I'm at work right now).

I'm looking for hotels myself for next July, Thomas. Regarding your questions, my notes tell:

Hotel America tel. 958 227471 fax 958 227470; 12,500pstas/double
Hotel Maciá tel 958 227536 fax 958 227533; 8,400pstas/double

Neither has parking facilities. Close to Plaza Nueva (Maciá) with parking facilities are the more upscale (3 stars):
Anacapri (t 958 227477, f 958 228909; 14,000pstas/double)
NH Inglaterra (t 958 221558, f 958 227100; 21,000pstas/double).

Breakfast and tax is not included in the figures.

Paulo

Thank you all for the suggestions and help. I've made a reservation at Hotel America, and as someone suggested, I will try again at Parador in February.
Tom
