Hotels in Florence

Has anyone had experience with Hotel Bellettini in Florence? Any advice on other hotels centrally located would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed in the Bellettiini annex (room 52) and found it to be very nice. The room had a very large bath and shower. It had a balcony that could set two that over looked some Italian apartments, lots of nice smells at dinner time, and you could see the tops of the Duomo and Medici Chapel. You enter the annex by so way of entering two large medieval doors into a private courtyard. The staff was very helpful and would arrange taxies and give very useful information. The hotel is located in easy walking distance of everything. Breakfast was great. If you stay here I can also recommend the Trattiora La Madia. When you leave the annex it is about 50 yards on the left. It is a local place run by a brother and sister.

We stayed in the annex last October -- we thought it was great. Nice big room, nicely furnished, king size bed with a beautiful bathroom, coffee maker, etc. As the previous poster mentioned they had a really nice breakfast as well.

Hotel Bella Senoria is great. I had a huge bathroom, great view and terrific staff. It is near all of the major sites in the historic district, without being right next to them. I paid 130e a night in early May.

I moved to this hotel after staying at Hotel Olimpia. Would not recommend Olimpia. Bad service, horrible bathroom and dark room.

Thank you all for your advice. I'm trying the Bellettini based on everything I've read here, waiting for a confirmation. Also booked the Antico Doge in Venice based on the good comments I've read, and waiting for a confirmation from Albergo del Senato in Rome.
This forum is great because everyone is so helpful and prompt... Thank you again.
I once booked a room in Madrid based on a beautiful brochure I received and found the picture must have been taken 100 years ago... and everything was still in place. It was centrally located, that's for sure and we walked everywhere, but at night!... oh, those Spaniards know how to live, don't know when they sleep... the noise from the street was always there, but we didn't mind... It's great to start dinner at 10 p.m. Any idea if it's the same in Rome?

We returned from Italy about 3 weeks ago. We stayed at the Antico Doge and were very happy with the hotel. Mariella who works during the day was awesome and helpful. My husband and I were in the Secret Itineraries tour when I notice I didn't have my diamond earings on. It was the first time I had taken them off since we left Los Angeles. Needless to say, I panicked as we had changed rooms at the Antico Doge just before the tour. I knew that the room was being cleaned as the room was booked. After a panicked call to Mariella, I raced back to the hotel. She had my earings safe in hand! I can't even tell you how awesome that was. She or the cleaning lady could have kept them but didn't. They were a gift for my 40th birthday and very valuable so I can only rave about the hotel and the staff. The location was really nice as it was a short walk to the main areas, sights and shopping and very excessable to the vaporetto, especially arriving by train from Rome. Our room was large and the breakfast was very good. You can also have your eggs prepared the way you like. Enjoy your stay!
