Hotels in Cinque Terra
MY wife and I are planning to spend two nights in the Cinque Terra area in early May. We would like a hotel with a view (and decent bathrooms). Because this is a special trip for us, price is not a primary consideration. Any ideas?

We stayed at the Hotel Jolie at Monterosso and absolutely hated it. The bathroom was cramped and dirty, the bed old and thin and the room did not even have an a/c.It was one of those hotels with wooden rickety floorboards. For that we paid 280000L in Oct.

We moved to Hotel Cinque Terre which was much better but the best hotel we saw was on top of the hill. My,what splendid views of the entire Cinque Terre coast! Can't remember the name- might be Porto Roca, but you can find it on the Fodors website.

We had excellent seafood at Tratorria Ciak though!

Larry-
We stayed in Manarola, but went to all of the towns. Manarola was our favorite. There is a hotel/restaurant right near the water called Marina Piccola. We ended up eating there 3 nights because the food was SO good! We didn't stay there, but we wish that we had (we stayed in a small room at the very top of the hill). I am not sure what the rooms are like, so you might want to get more information if this sounds like a place you would want to stay. Good Luck!

We spent three wonderful nights at the Hotel Marina Piccolo, and we also ate there every night. It is an outdoor, but covered place practically perched on the edge of the cliff like "marina" from which they hoist up the small fishing boats and roll them into the streets -- forbidden to cars. It is too picturesque for words. The rooms were very nice there, simple, but very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and ours had a wonderful view out to the sea.
