You can try Four Point (Sheraton) in Brussels. It's off Ave. Louise, within 5 minutes from tram stop. In general you can get even better price for all major hotels if you are there on weekends.

Alternatively, if you are interested in B&B, you can try a local web site www.taxistop.be. Although I've never used the service, it's a popular last minute holiday website for locals.

Enjoy
Stefanie

In Brugge we enjoyed Hotel t'Voermanshuys. Great room, low cost, clean, great staff and great location. I love Brugge! Write me if you want more information on Brugge. We stayed at Hotel Stephanie in Brussels and it was pure luxury! You did have to walk several minutes to downtown but we love to walk and see things along the way!
Check out this site:
www.hotelbel.com/voermanshuys.htm

Both at the lower end of your price range: Stayed at Hotel Opera, just off the Grand Place in Brussels. SMALL rooms, but otherwise, ok budget hotel w/great location. Stayed at the Hotel Cordinear (sp?) in Bruges. Again, budget, but nice and well located.

John: We also enjoyed the Hotel Welcome in Brussels; about $100 to $120. Great location five minutes from Grand Place. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had an exceptionally large room decorated in medieval clutter. What a kick. Our daughter's room was smaller, but very nicely decorated. We got the recommendation off this board and would stay there again.
Stayed at the Hotel Hansa in Brugge. Beautiful hotel and very well located. First rate all the way. Pricier, but well worth it. Have a great trip.

John,
You could try the Ibis hotel off the Grand place if you're looking for something central in brussels. Their rates are around 124 at weekends. Try www.ibishotel.com
They're ok hotels, bland but moderate, and this one's in a great location..
