Hotels in Barcelona and Madrid
Hello Everyone.
We will be visiting the above for 3 days each in couple of weeks.
I would like to know where should we look for hotels in terms of central location as tourist. we would like 4- 5 star
Also we would like to have either complimentry internet. I have seen few online but there were far away from the central city.
Any recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks

The price of a 4 or 5-star property can vary widely depending on your dates and the hotel's location, as well as how far in advance you make your reservations. The closer to the center of the city, the more expensive they tend to be. You should always book directly through the hotel whenever possible, but you can often find some interesting specials online, either through the hotels own website or one of the better online booking sites.
You might want to take a look at Maribel's Guides to Barcelona and Madrid to get a better idea on the hotels she's reviewed and recommends (www.maribelsguides.com).

Madrid central areas include Plaza Mayor, Plaza Santa Ana and Puerta del Sol.
Barcelona central areas include near Plaza Catalunya (not Las Ramblas though), Exiampe, El Born.
These areas have different character but all are convenient. If you proved a price range, I think people can be of more help.
You should also print out Maribel's guides (www.maribelsguides.com). She has some good hotel recommendations and talks about the various areas in both cities (in addition to all kind of other information about both cities).

Well i would say around 150$ a night. but I have heard that on Priceline if i bif, i could end up with something around $ 100 as well
$150 per night is not going to get you a 5-star hotel in a central location, EXCEPT for maybe using Priceline.
Not a lot of info at biddingfortravel, but it looks like you will need to bid in the $130-$150 range for a 5-star in Barcelona, and $150+ in Madrid. For Barcelona, you should bid the La Rambla-Barceloneta zone. For Madrid, you should bid the Old Madrid zone. For more help, you should go to betterbidding.com or biddingfortravel.com

That's about 5 miles from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. You are much better off going for a nice 3 (or even 2) star more central. I have stayed in 3* hotels in both cities, and they were perfectly fine, with great breakfasts.
