<BR>The Adolesce in Nieuwekeizersgracht has recently been refurbished and is still quite reasonably priced. It is near Waterlooplein and the Jodenbuurt area and is on a quiet stretch of the canal. It is also near the Magere Brug ("Skinny Bridge"), always a lovely, illuminated sight on your way "home" at the end of the day.<BR><BR>Outside Amsterdam, Leiden is a very interesting university town. I also like Haarlem and Delft a lot. Enkhuizen has the Zuiderzee Museum, which is very well thought out and very pretty. Madurodam may not be up every adult's street, but I found it delightful, especially at night when thousands of tiny lights flood the entire place. It's a model town, including all the best of the Netherlands and is near Den Haag.<BR><BR>Have a wonderful time in the Netherlands.<BR>

Try the De Munck Hotel on the Achtergracht. It's kind of funky in the breakfast room; there's a very old working jukebox and a cool little Jack Russell terrier. The owner is a big fan of the pop music of the 50s, 60s and 70s. <BR><BR>It's in a quiet area, close to Fredericksplein and Utrechtsestraat, which has many good restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. A tram will take you from Centraal Station to Fredericksplein (sorry, I can't remember the number). <BR><BR>I'd recommend staying in Amsterdam for your three days as there is a lot to see and do there, then maybe visiting some of the other interesting Dutch cities and towns if you return.
Visit Naarden, it is a twenty minute train ride from Amsterdam, walk to the Vesting an ancient fort with a village and the best pancake house in Holland. You can have a pancake with bacon and cheese with maply syrup. Don't leave Amsterdam without trying this. The village is full of antique shops and a lovely area to walk around. If you are feeling energetic hire bikes at the train station and cycle to Muiderslot and visit the castle, it is about 15kms round trip and a very easy cycle.<BR><BR>We live in Holland as expats please ask any other questions you have.<BR>
